  my dad disaggress and backs it up by saying that god has always had an organization or his righteous people on earth.

  it used to be isreal but when jesus came he changed that and established a new convenant/congregation.

  first off there are many who believe that Revelations was written before 70CE and may be regarding Nero as the beast and there is nothing to really show they are wrong.... one point made is that the fall of Jerusalem is completely absent in the story, which is odd since it would be a major fulfillment to hang future ones upon....

  second, Jesus said that ALL THINGS would happen in THIS GENERATION, not no future one... he was mistaken, making him a false prophet, end of story (^_^).

  3rdly there is no possible way that any mistakes in the bible will EVER be acknowledged by the faithful.

  Something a magican said on TV might fit..... the more intelligent a person is, the easier it is to trick them

  because they already have their mind filled with prejudgements of how things should work.... its harder to do

  magic infront of children because they are not aware that certain things should only happen certain ways.

  JWs amoung others are good at creating what if senerios where they control what they present as the only valid possibilities

  and while you are reading you dont have anyone you can object to and say, well, what about this or that or the other you are ignoring? and as you go on they weave a fine mess web of what if's that lead you to only the conclusions they have carefully charted....

  I was amazed at how a sales meeting for realestate seems so familiar to me....so kingdom hall like... same tricks, different product.

  i guess i have a little problem understanding the abuse issue .

  1. because i only just now started looking into it and am overwhelmed by all of the info.

  2. because this happened in my congo back in the late 70s and the guy was 'hung'.

  in countries like Denmark where sex is free and easy and sex education begins in grammar school

  molestation is almost non-existant.... why?

  when sex is hidden and repressed the molesters have a much easier time.... religion creates a very good breeding ground

  Monopoly - Bethel /JW Edition

  i was playing monopoly the other night and reminiscing on the different editions (i have the british, london one) - have played the american one, and various continental, and there are various ''movie'' editions -well, last night as i was playing, i was thinking how much fun a jw one would be....need a bit of input for this... eg, started to snigger when i picked up the ''it's your birthday.....'' i suggest ''it's your birthday, collect a shunning from each player''.

  then there's the free parking , err....''free bible study''?

  after much, much soul searching this past weekend i was once again confronted with the possibility of what can be called the divine.

  it was not exactly a pleasant experience, as i have been denying, even ridiculing the idea of god basically since exiting the jws (guess i was more traumatized than i thought).

  during this last year i have been convinced that i must have been crazy for believing in god.

  What if the ideal is a frame of mind I personally experienced in the past, when I was truly in love with everything and felt that anything was possible, and I believe this was only possible through complete sobriety and temperance in all things, part of what I would call the "holy path"?

  every move is a gamble to some degree and your beliefs and assumptions may be right and may be completely wrong and you may be chasing phantoms the rest of your life.

  This was by far the happiest time of my life, with the exception of having no one to share it with. The "holy path" would almost certainly alienate those I love, so I hesitate to jump back on. It would be nice to have the best of both worlds.

  you place your bets and you takes your chances.... spin the wheel of life and draw the next tarot card.... its your move.

  i dont know how i came across this forum but when i came to it i was so shocked of all the things being mentioned about the org.

  i became doubtful of the recent decision i had made ( the big dip, which i kinda felt pressure to do but that's another story) also hearing about how jw are a cult really opened my interest.

  so now that im openly informed ,im out in search of the truth behind the truth.

  while I have come to see the JW no blood issue based on a misinterpretation of the bible, I do see that modern medicine

  is sloppy and dangerous and that people trained in bloodless surgery are better doctors for it...so it may end up that

  JWs being lab rats for the rest of us will benefit mankind in the long run.... who knows... we still have doctors

  giving toxic drugs which kill 100,000+ and maime another 2million annually while people cry over 3,000 killed by terrorists...

  and I am talking correctly taken and no conflicting drugs btw.

  one day it dawned on me that I had been comparing events and people in my life to something ideal... something unreal, but persistant within me, an alternative world which formed the foundations of my mind... and with that realization came the understanding that I had been brainwashed to accept this lie as more valuable than reality as I lived it... why do I say its a lie? because it has no foundations in reality as I experience it... it is from fantasy, imagination or an alternate world which has little bearing on this one....

  it showed me that concept of an all knowing god who would KNOW what reality actually WAS but compare it to a fantasy ideal alternative was just silly.... and such a god would have to be insane, not divine.

  I came to see the perfection of each moment by NOT comparing them to anything else....just accepting what I really lived.

  chief rabbi leon ashkenazi said: "the difference between an atheist christian and an atheist jew is that an atheist christian does not believe that god exists, while an atheist jew believes that god does not exist.".

  i'm not so sure about the jewish-christian borderline, but i love the nuance.. so which sentence suits you better?.

  i got an interesting reply from an elder friend when i admitted that i had issues with the wts.

  i had listed the failed predictions, the changing doctrines and the mistakes made by the wts.. he came back with the examples of the israelites in the wilderness and under the various kings.

  the nation of israel was still god's people despite their hardheadedness and sins.

  assuming there is a Jehovah.... I can prove either way.... but if there is,

  what evidence do JWs have for being HIS and not some counterfeit as they claim for all others?

  seems to me that the evidence they present about themselves easily fits a dozen other cults

  and there seems nothing special about JWs.... they certainly are not less dysfunctional than anyone else

  and they certainly are not more loving than anyone else.
